Easiest Cordless Vacuums To Move and Use

Cordless Vacuums are a convenience, plain and simple.  The cord has been removed to make them easier to use and more mobile.  Many manufacturers have taken it further than just removing the cord and pushed the boundaries with regards to vacuum design.

In this blog post we're going to take a look at a few of our favourite cordless vacuums and how they work in terms of their mobility and ease of use.  We will look at some traditional vacuums which adopt the standard upright pose to those that are barely recognisable as a vacuum cleaner.  Let's get started!

The Bosch is a newcomer and a fantastic cordless vacuum.  It packs a powerful 75 minute battery (that's pretty amazing), has superb suction and an array of different accessories.

At first glance you might think the Athlet ProAnimal is the same as any other upright vacuum cleaner, cordless or not.

Well, you are right.. kind of.  The Bosch is a traditional upright and it's used in the same way as any other vacuum.  There is a long handle with some controls on the top, a powered brush bar and a centre body which houses the motor and dust container.

Where the Bosch differs is when it goes mobile.

Many manufacturers have decided to make things a little more mobile beyond the standard upright.  Bosch have done the same.

That's right, the powered head (also called a brush bar) disconnects and there is a fabric strap for you to wear the Athlet on your back.

You'll need to use the accessories for this to make any sense, including the hose and the various attachments that come as part of the Athlet's package.

Admittedly, this does look a little bizarre.  However, in our tests is actually works very well.  You do need to spend a little bit of time ensuring the strap is tight enough so that it doesn't slip off, which is particularly important on stairs, but beyond that you sort of forget it's even there.

Vax Air Cordless Lift

We love this vacuum, it's a beast.  Super powerful and it looks just like a standard upright.  When Vax were designing the Air Cordless Lift they must have had performance in mind.

The suction from the Air Cordless Lift is superb, and the powered brush bar makes short work of most carpet dirt.   Thumbs up from us on that one Vax.

The Cordless Lift, like all Vax cordless vacuums, has a detachable centre.  You can literally take the centre of the vacuum out and carry it you.  No fancy back straps on this one, just a comfy handle and a connected hose.

On top of that the Lift has a very easily removed battery. It literally pops out of the front of the vacuum. That means you're able to switch out batteries as frequently as you need to - great for the big cleaning tasks!

In our tests we found it all worked extremely well, much better than expected.  Well done Vax.

Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum

Dyson - the rulers of innovation in the vacuuming world - have done it again with their cordless vacuum range (the V6, V7, and V8).

Totally different to most of cordless vacuums on the market, the V-range has flipped everything around.  Rather than a traditional upright with the ability to become handheld Dyson have gone full circle with a handheld that can act as an upright.

Because the Dyson is effectively a handheld with a long tube attached to a powered brush bar there are a few benefits.  First off, it's extremely easy to move round.  The weight of the device is in your hand, which is close to your body.  That means you can move the end of the vacuum round wherever you want.  Not just around corners or in little nooks, but in the ceiling or corners of your house.  Anywhere.

Somehow Dyson have managed to pack a hell of a lot of suction into quite a small space.  The Dyson rivals some of the most powerful upright vacuums; corded and cordless.
